Well, the Raw Exchange Sci-Fi Photoshop Contest has come to an end and boy did we receive some AWESOME images! Thanks so much to all who participated.

So without further ado, the winner is ….. drumroll ….. pause for dramatic effect …. more pausing ….

Sergey Pereskokov!!

*confetti cannons*

It was definitely no easy task to choose just one image as the ultimate winner, but Sergey really blew us away with the overall impact of his entry. It is masterfully composited and looks like something that could have been grabbed right from a science fiction movie. The wide crop really adds to the cinematic feel, not to mention the top notch color grading and attention to lighting. Outstanding work, Sergey, and congrats!

Our first runner-up is… Brent Young!

He didn’t quite land the first place prize, but not for lack of trying. He entered several pieces and a couple of them were actually in the running for first. (Really great work on all of your images, Brent.) We love the movie poster feel of this entry, and it has a great composition. The use of blurring, grain, particles, and the eerie-misty-muted-teal-coloring lead to a cohesive, dynamic feel.

And last, but not least, we have our other runner-up, Javier Alejandro.

We really liked how shiny and futuristic this image is, and the texturing almost makes it look like something from a graphic novel. Much like Brent, Javier entered a few images, all of which were super cool. We would also like to give an honorable mention to his STUNNING mermaid image. It might have won the whole thing, but we felt it was maybe leaning a bit too far towards fantasy rather than Sci-fi. Either way, wonderful work on all of your entries, Javier. *internet high five*

Since it seems like the natural follow up to Science Fiction (after all they do almost always live together at the books store), our next contest is going to be fantasy themed! Hooray! *more confetti*

Stay tuned for the details on the Raw Exchange Fantasy Photoshop Contest coming soon to a computer near you!

While you wait patiently for the rules and guidelines for the next contest, why not check out some of these other entries from the SciFi contest tat we thought we pretty darn nifty? Great job everyone, and thanks again for playing along with us!

We will contact the winners to give them their awesome prizes!
